All homes need a spring clean from time to time, whether you are a homeowner, a seller, a landlord or a tenant in Brixton, you may be required to address this job at some point!
Some people will spring clean regularly and therefore reduce the need for ever having to do a massive job but for others, it is not always possible to keep on top of it, mainly due to daily life and other commitments.
When it comes to the crunch, and it’s time to do a spring clean (from top to bottom!) you can either address it yourself or hire the domestic cleaners to do it for you?
Both are beneficial, but some people in Brixton, SW9 prefer to leave this kind of thing to the experts as they may not know much about detergents and products including what is effective and safe to use on your household goods and also not everybody as the time to do a thorough spring clean, effectively.
Other people may have plenty of experience and know-how as well as learned hints and tips (even trade secrets tips!) and therefore do not mind getting stuck into a through clean and putting that learned knowledge to good use. Spring cleaning is also a satisfyingly pleasing for some people.
Either way, spring cleaning is not expensive with a little know-how, follow our guide ‘cheap and simple ways to spring clean’ and you too could get your home looking spic and span in no time at all.
(Carpets and rugs)
You will need a vacuum, cotton cloths, Hoover, hairdryer, stain-removing detergent.
1) Concentrate on those problem areas the most rather than the whole carpet. Needy spots tend to be around doorways where there is more traffic as well as eating areas and children’s play corners.
2) Vacuum the problem areas thoroughly including both sides of the rug.
3) For lasting stains, allow the product to soak through (about 20 mins) before you tackle it. Then gently scrub the stain working from the outside inwards.
4) Blot away excess moisture with the cotton cloth then blast the hairdryer to help it along. Open windows and leave to dry fully!
(Fabrics and upholstery)
You will need a steam cleaner, upholstery cleaner, wrinkle releaser and odour eliminator.
You may not need all of the above however a combination of these products is handy for tackling everything from curtains and bedding to sofas and chairs. If you do not have a steam cleaner you can buy affordable handheld versions or you may wish to hire the professional steam cleaners operating in the SW9 area to do the job for you as a one-off when it’s needed.
1) Spray the area with the relevant cleaner and allow it to soak through on tougher stains.
2) Lightly rub the area with a soft bristle brush working in circular movements to help lift the stain.
3) Use a steam cleaner and start at the bottom, working your way up (as steam rises) this will help to remove bad odours and the heat and vapour combo are effective removing dirt.
