Best Ways to Give Your Space a Seasonal Update
Winter is finally over and you can enjoy the sun once again. But before you go out and do so, you have to think about your home. This is the perfect – and, technically, the only – time for spring cleaning. It is the time when you refresh your house and prepare it for the beginning of the season, and for the whole new year as well. You have to be meticulous and thorough, you need to do a good job in order to call the whole activity a successful spring cleaning. And here are the tips you need to do just that.
Taking Care of the Floors
Floors need attention, and they need a lot of it. It’s time to give them all of your attention and not just by giving the usual vacuuming you do every other week. Do thorough carpet cleaning, and if you are able to get your hands on one of those steam cleaners, all the better. It is the perfect way to thoroughly cleanse the carpets and have them fluffy and free of dust and dirt. And if you don’t have or don’t want a steam cleaner, then call your local cleaning company and arrange a team to come over and handle that particular job.
And don’t forget the rugs! Rugs are flat dust collectors which take in all the dirt that doesn’t stick to the carpet. They are rarely maintained and some of them are hard to deal with. Do proper rug cleaning and read about how to continue keeping them clean. That goes double if you have pets or children.
The Stuffed Toy Hazard
Remember that stuffed toy your kid likes to play with? How would you feel if you were to read that they house numerous dust mites? Yes, they need cleaning as well and you need to provide it as soon as possible. If you don’t feel like figuring out how to clean the toy, at least leave it in a freezer for a day – dust mites can’t stand cold temperatures and they always leave the surface they are on, or completely die out. And then you can wait for the toy to warm up and give it back to your child – this time without the hazardous inhabitants.
The Things You Rarely Notice
Did you know you have curtains, blinds and (a) mattress(es)? It’s not a silly question – many people forget. They spend an entire year neglecting them and wonder why every now and then they are wont to end up violently coughing without any obvious reason. Well, those three also gather dust mites and other dirt-related miscreants which you need to deal with before they start hurting your health. Mattresses should be cleaned at least once a year and this is the perfect time to do it. Again, steam cleaners would be perfect, but if you don’t have that option, just use the vacuum cleaner – it will also do a proper job. Curtains should go in the washing machine, and blind take some more time and effort, but are definitely easier to handle – one or two wipes from a microfiber cloth will be enough.
Implement these tricks and do all the rest of the standard house cleaning and your home will be ready to face the spring and the new year in its full glory. Now you only have to devote some time into reorganizing the wardrobe for the warmer season and you can start enjoying spring as well. Spring cleaning is not an obstacle, it is a preparation – join in the activities and be prepared yourself.
