All-natural Bombs to Clean and Freshen Up Your Toilet

homemade toilet cleaner bombs

Bad odour in the bathroom is one of those things we’ve all had to deal with. Keeping the toilet fresh between cleaning sprees is an issue that plagues every home. These handy, all-natural toilet bombs will help you freshen things up.

The majority of toiler cleaner bomb recipes contain the standard bath bomb baking soda and citric acid base. There are other extra ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide and vinegar too. Since vinegar is similar to citric acid, you can use it as a substitute or leave it out. Hydrogen peroxide is a great home cleaning product and sanitizer, but there is one problem. The liquid will cause the baking soda to start fizzling. Instead you can use borax that, once dissolved, gives off hydrogen peroxide. To personalise the toilet fizzies, use your favourite scents. Here are three easy recipes you can try right now.

Simple Toilet Cleaner Bombs

The three basic ingredients in this recipe have natural cleaning and deodorising properties. Baking soda is a mild abrasive that removes the bad odours and neutralises acids. On the other hand, citric acid dissolves the hard water stains and sanitises the surface. The essential oils will make your bathroom the best-smelling spot in the house.

What You’ll Need:

• 2 cups baking soda
• 2/3 cup citric acid
• essential oils of your choice
• water
• misting spray
• baking sheet
• airtight container for storage

add essential oil
Directions:

In a glass bowl, mix the citric acid and the baking soda. It’s recommendable to use a mask and latex gloves to protect your eyes and skin. To prevent the fizzing action when adding the water and essential oils, use a spray bottle and slowly mist the dry powder. Moisturise until you have barely wet the mixture before you pour in the essential oils. Stir until the oils are completely absorbed. If needed, wet down some more until you have a slightly damp powder consistency. Create single use size toilet cleaners with a spoon and place them on a baking sheet. Let the bombs dry overnight and then store them in an appropriate container.
